The ancient name of Vallabhpur was Vamilpur. It was the capital of the kings of the Maurya dynasty. This sacred place has a very old history. In the year 510 of the Vikram era, Devardhigani Kshamasharman and other 500 Acharyas put the Agams into script for the first time. This ancient and historical sacred place was finally consecrated by Acharya Nemisurisvarji.
It is said that once upon a time, this place was at the foot of the sacred place Shetrunjay. It was here that the book ‘Shetrunjaya Mahatmya’ was written by Acharya Dhaneshwarsurji. Once a great ‘Vishva Vidhalya’ (University) of India, was here, Since many acts of religious significance were performed here, this sacred place is regarded to be very holy.
